Flamengo is intensifying efforts to sign Luiz Henrique, adopting a more aggressive stance in the transfer market and setting short deadlines to avoid drawn-out sagas in negotiations.

Flamengo’s board has decided to shift gears in their approach to the transfer market. With the goal of reinforcing the squad as soon as possible, the Rio-based club is seeking an immediate resolution regarding Luiz Henrique’s situation, aiming to avoid repeating the approach taken in the talks for Thiago Almada, which continue to drag on without a concrete outcome.

The Rubro-Negro’s strategy is clear: prioritize speed. According to reports from the M360 team, the club does not intend to prolong discussions, and should they not receive a positive response in the short term, the football leadership will not hesitate to pursue alternatives in the market to address the gaps in the squad.

The lesson learned from Thiago Almada

This change in behavior from Mengão is a direct result of the frustration during negotiations for Thiago Almada. Despite numerous attempts and set deadlines, the club is still waiting for a firm decision from the Argentine midfielder.

Recently, executive José Boto reinforced the club’s philosophy upon returning from Argentina, emphasizing that Flamengo will not engage in bidding wars. As the executive noted in a statement cited by the M360 team:

“If it were easy to bring in players at the peak of their careers, at 25 years old, there wouldn’t only be seven in the history of Brazilian football. It is not possible to sign marquee players for the price of prospects.”

Versatility in the market

Regarding the pursuit of Luiz Henrique, who currently plays for Zenit in Russia, the club is maintaining a cautious stance while focusing on several targets. José Boto pointed out that the club maintains a broad strategic view:

“Flamengo does not fixate on just one player; we play on several boards.”

While things heat up behind the scenes, the forward continues his commitments in European football. Last Wednesday (05), the player was on the pitch in Zenit’s 1-0 victory in the Russian Cup. The expectation now is whether the pressure applied by Flamengo will bring the answer desired by the fans or if the club will, in fact, need to explore other options for the remainder of the season.
