Talented left-back Yan Gabriel from the club’s youth academy has been called up to wear the iconic yellow jersey for the Brazil U-15 National Team, highlighting Sport‘s development work.

The excellence of Sport Club do Recife‘s youth categories continues to yield national-level results. This Tuesday (23), the Ilha do Retiro stadium celebrated the official call-up of left-back Yan Gabriel, who will join the squad for the Brazil Men’s U-15 National Team under coach Guilherme Dalla Déa.

The young defender from Sport is among the 22 selected athletes who will represent Brazil in two international friendly matches against Chile, to be held on July 7 and 9 in the capital city of Santiago. This call-up marks Yan Gabriel‘s first opportunity in this age category, serving as a significant recognition of the player’s demonstrated potential.

Strengthening Sport’s Youth Academy

The matches against the Chilean national team are part of the CBF‘s fourth preparation phase, focused on the upcoming Conmebol Liga Evolução (Evolution League) competition, scheduled for September. For the vice-president of youth development, George Queirós, the news validates the strategic planning implemented at the club.

Yan Gabriel‘s call-up is a source of great pride for all of us and endorses the project we are designing for Sport‘s youth division. This selection shows that our continuous investment in our infrastructure, talent scouting, and athlete support is generating real results. Seeing the Sport jersey represented in the Brazilian National Team solidifies our brand as one of the leading development hubs in the country,” stated the official.

National Recognition

The consistent presence of players from the Leão (Lion) youth academy in national team call-ups reinforces the club’s status as one of the most significant talent development centers in the Northeast region. According to the Youth Football Executive, Felipe Sitônio, Yan Gabriel‘s individual success is the result of collective and integrated work.

Yan is an athlete with immense potential, who has been showing excellent tactical and technical development in our U-15 team. This call-up crowns not only his daily dedication but also the integrated work of our entire coaching staff and personnel. Sport aims to develop high-level citizens and athletes, and the CBF‘s focus on us proves we are on the right track,” affirmed Sitônio.

The athlete is now preparing to report to the Brazilian National Team‘s coaching staff at the beginning of next month. The trip to Chile represents not only a learning opportunity for the young left-back but also a significant showcase for Sport‘s youth academy, which continues to unearth promising talents with a winning mentality and a focus on high-performance football.
