Renowned Argentine coach Marcelo Gallardo is the chosen name to lead the reconstruction of the Ecuadorian National Team after their early elimination in the last World Cup.

According to information from Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports, Marcelo Gallardo, one of the continent’s most successful coaches, has reached an agreement to take the helm of the Ecuadorian National Team.
The initial contract is expected to be for two years, extending until the 2028 Copa América.
The project presented by the Ecuadorian federation is ambitious and includes the possibility of automatic renewal until the 2030 World Cup, should the sporting objectives be met.
The hiring of Gallardo aims to fill the void left by Sebastián Beccacece, who led the team during the last World Cup, held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, where the team was eliminated in the second round.

With a consolidated career, Marcelo Gallardo, known as “Muñeco,” built his legacy primarily at River Plate, the club where he became the most successful coach in history.
In addition to his remarkable stint in Argentine football, the coach also managed Nacional of Uruguay and had a recent experience at Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.
His tactical prowess has repeatedly put him on the radar of giants in Brazilian football, with speculation involving teams like Grêmio, Vasco, and Atlético-MG in past seasons.
However, the challenge now is to give “La Tri” a new identity.
