Luis Enrique praises Filipe Luís and recalls final against Flamengo ahead of PSG vs. Monaco
PSG (FRA) manager Luis Enrique showed great respect for the work of Filipe Luís, the current head coach of Monaco (FRA), ahead of the teams’ meeting in the third round of the French Championship. The match is scheduled for this Friday (04) at 4:00 PM (Brasília time) at the Parc des Princes.
During a press conference, Luis Enrique did not hold back on praising the Brazilian coach and took the opportunity to look back on the 2025 Club World Cup final, when PSG faced Flamengo. The preparation for that match, according to the Spaniard, had already revealed Filipe Luís’ potential.

Luis Enrique stated:
It is his first experience at a European club, but he achieved many important things in Brazil. As I have said before, when we prepared for the Intercontinental match against Flamengo, we saw the type of coach he is. When I found out he was coming to France, I was happy at first, but then I started to think that maybe I wasn’t so happy after all.
The PSG manager highlighted the importance of new ideas and quality in French football:
It is important to have new coaches who like to play football and who love quality. It is great news for French football. I am happy for him and wish him all the best, but only after the game against us.
Filipe Luís at Monaco and the World Cup retrospective
Filipe Luís took charge of Monaco in July of this year, marking his first experience as a coach at a European club. His stint at Flamengo, which ended in March, was successful, with 101 matches, 63 wins, 23 draws, and 15 losses, resulting in a 70.6% win rate. During his time with the Rubro-Negro, he won the Copa Libertadores, the Copa do Brasil, and the Brazilian Serie A, among other titles.
Luis Enrique‘s memory refers to the Club World Cup final, in which PSG defeated Flamengo on penalties 2-1, following a 1-1 draw in regular time and extra time.
