Flamengo prepares to face Mirassol with absences and uncertainty in the squad.

Flamengo is gearing up for another challenge in the Brazilian Serie A, but head coach Leonardo Jardim will have to deal with one confirmed absence and the potential unavailability of four other players for the duel against Mirassol. The match, valid for the 23rd round of the competition, will take place this Sunday (16) at the Maião Stadium.

Confirmed Absence: Vitão Out

Center-back Vitão is the only player confirmed to be out. He continues to recover from a left thigh muscle injury suffered during a training session in early August. The defender’s absence poses a challenge for the Rubro-Negro backline.

Four Players in Doubt for the Match

The Flamengo medical staff is monitoring the status of four players: Luiz Araújo, Bruno Henrique, Alex Sandro, and Everton Cebolinha.

Luiz Araújo is in the transition phase to return to the pitch after recovering from a left knee injury sustained in July. Although he has been cleared by the medical department, the forward is still working to regain his peak physical condition to be match-ready.

Bruno Henrique is the primary concern. The player reported intense pain after a hard tackle during the match against Cruzeiro. A medical re-evaluation will be conducted this Friday (14) to determine the severity of the ankle injury, but it is expected that he will be sidelined for the upcoming game.

Alex Sandro and Everton Cebolinha: Situations Under Observation

Alex Sandro remains a doubt due to tendinitis in his right calf, which has kept him out of the last two games. The left-back is still in recovery, and his availability against Mirassol remains uncertain.

On the other hand, Everton Cebolinha could make a return. The forward is recovering from a flu and medical clearance is expected for him to rejoin the squad. The team led by Leonardo Jardim is closely monitoring the players’ progress.

Match Details and Flamengo’s Position

Kickoff for Mirassol vs. Flamengo is set for 6:30 PM (Brasília time) this Sunday (16) at the José Maria de Campos Maia Stadium. The match is crucial for Flamengo, which currently sits in second place in the Brazilian Serie A with 41 points. The team is looking to close the gap on league leaders Palmeiras, who have 48 points.

The game will be broadcast by Record (open TV), CazéTV (YouTube), and Premiere (pay-per-view).
