Arrascaeta hits historic milestone in Libertadores for Flamengo and looks ahead to decisive clash
Midfielder Arrascaeta is one step away from writing another glorious chapter in his Flamengo career. If he takes the pitch against Independiente del Valle this Thursday (10), the number 10 will reach 70 appearances in the Copa Libertadores da América, solidifying his status as the club’s record-holder in the continent’s premier competition.
The Uruguayan playmaker, in an interview with FlamengoTV on the eve of the crucial quarterfinal matchup, highlighted the honor of reaching such a feat and analyzed the challenge the Rubro-Negro will face at the altitude of Quito.
It is another honor for me. God willing, I will be able to be there tomorrow and help my teammates. It will be a very difficult game against a team that plays very well here at this altitude. We need to play a perfect game, and then we will try, within our own style, to do what we have been doing in these last few matches. I believe we have improved a lot, but there is still room for improvement.
Stated Arrascaeta.
Maturity and Growth of the Squad
The midfielder also emphasized the unity and evolution of the Rio de Janeiro side.
We have a very mature group here; there are many experienced players, and we know when we owe a little bit more. Everyone thought about what they could improve and what they could fix. We are on a very good upward trajectory. Tomorrow (Thursday) is a different game with different characteristics. We have to be prepared for that. The ‘Nação’ can continue supporting this group; we will try to give our best.
Added the Uruguayan.
Impressive Libertadores Stats
This marks Arrascaeta‘s eighth participation in the Libertadores, a tournament in which he has already won three titles and one runner-up medal. His stats for Flamengo in the competition are remarkable: in 69 matches, he has recorded 45 wins, 17 draws, and only seven losses. The star has found the back of the net 13 times and provided 19 assists, all without ever being sent off.
Clash in Quito
The match between Flamengo and Independiente del Valle is scheduled for the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa in Quito, with kickoff set for 9:30 PM (Brasília time). The M360 Team will provide full coverage of the match, while ESPN will broadcast the duel on pay-TV. Arrascaeta’s achievement reinforces his historical importance to the club and his relevance on the Libertadores stage.
As the M360 Team highlighted:
Fans over 30 years old watched the Libertadores during their childhood and admired the football of Juan Riquelme at Boca Juniors. Today, Flamengo has its own ‘Riquelme.’ Arrascaeta is one of the greatest players in the history of the Copa Libertadores da América.
