Vini Jr. is requesting a substantial salary increase and full control of his image rights to extend his contract with Real Madrid, leading to a stalemate in negotiations.

A financial deadlock is currently surrounding contract renewal negotiations for Vini Jr. at Real Madrid. The Brazilian forward, who began his career at Flamengo, is seeking a significant pay raise for his current deal, which expires in mid-2027, according to reports from the Spanish outlet Diario As.

The demands made by the player’s representatives have cast doubt on his future at the club, opening the door for a potential transfer to another European powerhouse. The core of the issue centers on salary figures and, more importantly, control over the athlete’s image rights.

EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES

With a proposal that Real Madrid considers excessive, the situation has become a critical juncture for the star’s future in European football.

Vini Jr.’s Demands

Currently, Vinicius Júnior earns 15 million euros (equivalent to R$ 87.8 million) per season. To sign a new deal, the player is seeking an annual salary of 20 million euros, which totals approximately R$ 117.5 million per campaign.

In addition to the salary bump, Vini Jr. is demanding to hold 100% of his image rights. Currently, Real Madrid owns about 50% of those rights, while the forward maintains partnerships with 18 different brands. The push for total control mirrors the setup of other superstars at the club, such as Kylian Mbappé, who already owns nearly all of his own rights.

Impact on Flamengo

For Flamengo, who sold Vini Jr. to Real Madrid for 45 million euros (about R$ 164 million at the time) in 2018, a future sale of the athlete would be more financially advantageous than a contract renewal.

As his formative club, the Rio-based team is entitled to 5% of any future transfer fee due to the FIFA solidarity mechanism. A product of the Ninho do Urubu youth academy, he made his professional debut for Flamengo in 2017 at just 16 years old.

During his time at the club, Vini Jr. played 69 matches and scored 14 goals before heading to Spain.

The Landscape and Next Steps

Despite the current impasse, the prevailing expectation is that a renewal between Real Madrid and Vini Jr. will eventually be reached. However, time is a critical factor.

If an agreement is not reached, the club will need to negotiate a transfer during this window, which closes on September 11. This urgency is driven by the desire to prevent the player from being able to sign a pre-contract with another team when he reaches the final six months of his deal.

Clubs such as Arsenal have already shown interest in Vini Jr.‘s situation, though he has yet to comment publicly.

Negotiations between Vini Jr. and Real Madrid remain at a critical stage, with the forward seeking a restructuring of his financial and image terms, aligned with his growing global stature. The decision will impact not only the star’s career but also the coffers of Flamengo, which remains closely monitoring the situation.
