Lucas Arcanjo laments Pulgar’s wonder goal and analyzes Vitória’s defeat to Flamengo.
Vitória goalkeeper Lucas Arcanjo expressed his frustration following his team’s 2-0 defeat to Flamengo this Sunday at the Maracanã. The match, valid for the 22nd round of the Brazilian Serie A, was highlighted by a spectacular goal from Chilean midfielder Erick Pulgar, who opened the scoring, and a second-half goal from Bruno Henrique.
Arcanjo admitted that the first goal was impossible to save. The goalkeeper stated in a post-match interview:
“Ah, there was no way to stop that”
referring to Pulgar’s powerful strike from outside the box.
Underperforming and looking ahead
Beyond lamenting the goal that set the tone for the match, Lucas Arcanjo analyzed Vitória‘s overall performance. The Bahia-based team showed struggles, especially away from home, marking their fourth consecutive winless game. The goalkeeper acknowledged that, despite attempts to find balance and an improvement in the second half, the team committed errors that allowed dangerous counter-attacks from Flamengo.
Despite the negative result, Vitória‘s focus now shifts to their next commitment in the Brazilian Serie A. The team will face Botafogo next Sunday at Barradão, looking for better results and points to climb away from the relegation zone.
