Argentine forward David Romero, who was rumored to be a target for Flamengo behind the scenes, has agreed to a transfer to Parma, in Italy. The 23-year-old player was officially announced by the Italian club this Friday (14) and signed a five-season contract, valid until 2031.
Career Path and Flamengo’s Interest
After leaving Tigre (ARG), Romero became the subject of speculation in the Brazilian market, with Flamengo being one of the interested clubs. Expectations grew when the player spent a vacation period in Rio de Janeiro. Additionally, the forward drew attention when he was withdrawn from a Tigre match in the Copa Sudamericana due to a viral illness.
Flamengo’s Stance
Amidst the rumors, Flamengo‘s football executive director, José Boto, was questioned about the interest in the player. He denied any ongoing negotiations:
There’s nothing to it (negotiation). The player exists, he plays for Tigre (ARG). But from Flamengo’s side, there is no type of negotiation for David Romero.

In this transfer window, Flamengo‘s main target was Thiago Almada, who ultimately signed with River Plate (ARG). The club also attempted to sign Luiz Henrique but backed down due to the perceived high fees from Zenit (RUS).
