Brazilian women’s soccer is experiencing a boom, with the record-breaking signing of Kerolin by Barcelona boosting the valuation of national team athletes on the global stage by 170%.

The recent acquisition of forward Kerolin by Barcelona for a staggering €1.2 million (approximately R$ 7.1 million) marks a turning point in the trajectory of Brazilian women’s soccer. The move by the Catalan club, announced on August 4th, underscores a growing trend of increasing value for the country’s players in the international transfer market. Since mid-2024, the transfer fees for Brazilian talent have soared by approximately 170%, reflecting a significant increase in the sport’s global audience and appeal.

This promising scenario has been built through a series of strategic negotiations that highlight the economic and athletic potential of Brazilian players. The rise in valuations not only recognizes talent on the pitch but also positions women’s soccer as a product that is increasingly attractive for investment and fan engagement.

A Ladder of Market Records

The string of record-breaking deals began in April 2024, when defender Tarciane, then with Corinthians, was transferred to the Houston Dash in the United States for R$ 2.6 million. At the time, that transaction was the largest in the history of Brazilian women’s soccer and paved the way for further substantial deals.

Five months later, forward Priscila, from Internacional, surpassed that benchmark when she transferred to América, in Mexico, for R$ 2.8 million.

The market’s momentum didn’t stop there: in February 2025, Tarciane, following impressive performances in the United States, was sold to Lyon for US$ 960,000, reclaiming the top spot.

In October 2025, it was Amanda Gutierres‘ turn, the Palmeiras forward who was transferred to the Boston Legacy for US$ 1.1 million.

The peak arrived with Kerolin, cementing a 173.1% jump compared to the value of Tarciane‘s first major sale.

The Commercial and Global Impact of Kerolin

Kerolin‘s deal with Barcelona is not just an athletic achievement, but a commercial milestone. Sergio Feltrini, the athlete’s agent, emphasized that Kerolin successfully capitalized on her on-field performance, becoming a prominent face in global campaigns for brands like Nike and Coca-Cola. Currently, Kerolin stands as the fourth-largest sale in the history of women’s world soccer, a remarkable feat that underscores her market value.

Women’s Soccer as a Profitable Product

Ruskaya Zanini, from FSports, highlighted that transactions of this scale are crucial for the growth of the women’s soccer ecosystem.

She observes:

transactions of this size boost the ecosystem, attracting global brands and proving that women’s soccer is a profitable product.

This perspective reinforces the growth potential of the sport, which is projected to reach US$ 3 billion in revenue globally by 2026 across women’s sports.

The challenge now, as pointed out by Renata Armiliato, soccer manager at Internacional, is for clubs to transform this moment of euphoria and valuation into infrastructure and continuity, ensuring that the growth is sustainable and benefits all levels of the sport.

The transfer of Kerolin to Barcelona acts as a catalyst for the evolution of Brazilian women’s soccer, solidifying its place on the global stage.

The rising valuation of Brazilian athletes, with a ranking led by Kerolin, followed by Amanda Gutierres, Tarciane, and Priscila, reflects not just individual talent, but the rise of a sport that increasingly attracts investment and recognition.

The future points to a continuation of this trend, with more visibility and resources for the development of the sport in the country and worldwide, as noted by the M360 Team.
