Jorginho criticizes pitch conditions and compares the pressure at Flamengo to the Italian national team.

Midfielder Jorginho, a key figure for Flamengo, gave an exclusive interview to ‘RomárioTV’ and opened up about his perspective on Brazilian football and the intensity of the pressure at the Rio de Janeiro club. Fresh off a standout performance in the win against Botafogo, the player did not hold back in criticizing the state of the pitches in the Brazilian Serie A, pointing to them as one of the most frustrating aspects of his daily routine.

Brazilian pitches: A constant challenge

Jorginho expressed his frustration with the inconsistent quality of fields across the country. “The pitches really test your patience,” said the midfielder, highlighting the difficulty of maintaining high performance levels given the varying conditions he encounters. He even compared synthetic pitches to natural fields in poor condition, stating he prefers the former when the alternative is of low quality. This criticism highlights a structural issue that directly impacts the spectacle of the game and the performance of the athletes.

Pressure at Flamengo: A level above everything, except for the National Team

With extensive experience in European football, including stints at clubs like Napoli, Chelsea, and Arsenal, Jorginho was asked where the pressure is most intense. He admitted that the responsibility of wearing the Italy national team jersey is the greatest, but emphasized that, at the club level, Flamengo places him in a league of its own. “The pressure at Flamengo is greater than all of them,” he stated, comparing the atmosphere at the club to that of Napoli, which he notes shares a similar vibe to Rio de Janeiro.

The return to Brazil and choosing Flamengo

Jorginho’s decision to return to Brazil after a successful career in Europe was driven by a desire to once again experience high-stakes football and the pressure to win titles. He revealed that before signing with Flamengo, he received offers from European clubs as well as others in Brazil, with Palmeiras being the other interested party on home soil. However, the strength of the Flamengo project and his search for new challenges led him to Gávea, a choice he described as “perfect.”

Arrascaeta: A star in his gallery

When asked by Romário about where Arrascaeta ranks among his best teammates, Jorginho did not hesitate to place the Uruguayan on a high pedestal. He compared Arrascaeta to stars like Hazard, Kovacic, and Kanté, highlighting the technical quality and the importance of the number 10 to Flamengo.

Jorginho’s interview offers an interesting perspective on the challenges of Brazilian football, the intensity of life at Flamengo, and the quality of the squad, reinforcing his own importance to the team.
