In a press conference, the coach made sure to recall a crucial moment in Leão’s (Vitória’s nickname) campaign in the competition: the victory over Flamengo in the fifth round, serving as inspiration for the upcoming challenge. The team aims to overturn the unfavorable score and advance in the national competition.
The negative result in Curitiba did not shake Ventura’s optimism, who sees the team’s recent history as proof of its ability to overcome challenges. Vitória’s fanbase is seen as a decisive factor to boost the team in the return leg, which will be played at home, at Barradão.

Coach Jair Ventura highlighted his team’s resilience when commenting on Vitória’s performance, despite the initial defeat. “We were on a four-game unbeaten streak. We have to analyze game by game; today we started with a clear chance in the third minute, which could have changed the story. We came back better in the second half with Erick’s entry,” Ventura stated. He emphasized the squad’s ability to react and the importance of new players coming into the game.
He then reinforced his belief in the possibility of overturning the disadvantage. “We started to control the game even playing away, then came the expulsion and another goal. We managed to beat Flamengo 2-0 and Coritiba 4-1, and we have every condition to turn this game around.
