Libertadores Knockout Stage Schedule

The first leg matches of the Round of 16 will kick off with two Brazilian soccer classics right away. Fluminense opens the round against Independiente Rivadavia on Tuesday, August 11th, at 7 PM (BRT), at the iconic Maracanã. The following day, Wednesday, August 12th, at 9:30 PM (BRT), the Mineirão stadium will host the clash between Cruzeiro and Flamengo.

The return leg matches are scheduled for the following week. On Tuesday, August 18th, at 7 PM (BRT), Fluminense will travel to Argentina to face Independiente Rivadavia at Malvinas Argentinas Stadium. Concluding the Round of 16, on Wednesday, August 19th, at 9:30 PM (BRT), Flamengo will host Cruzeiro again at the Maracanã.

Reinforcements and Transfer Market Strategies

Regarding reinforcements, Fluminense appears to have more activity. The club is awaiting the official registration of two important names for the knockout stage: forward Hulk, signed in early May, and experienced defender Thiago Silva, announced in late June. The arrival of both could significantly strengthen the Tricolor squad.

Flamengo, on the other hand, has not presented new signings with the intention of integrating them into the Libertadores roster at this moment. The Rubro-Negra board seems to be relying on the current squad to pursue the competition title.

The fans of both clubs eagerly await the unfolding of these clashes and the possible surprises that the Libertadores knockout stage may bring. The quest for continental glory continues full steam ahead.
