Internacional faces risk of FIFA embargo over transfer debts, while Flamengo secures one of its key women’s defense players until 2029.
The transfer market brings distinct movements for two Brazilian football giants. While Internacional is experiencing a moment of administrative tension due to international financial pending issues, Flamengo is working on consolidating its women’s football project, ensuring the continuity of fundamental pieces in its squad.
The Colorado‘s situation has become critical behind the scenes. The Porto Alegre-based club is facing a potential complaint to FIFA by Dansoman Wise, a team from Ghana, regarding the signing of midfielder Benjamin Arhin. The impasse places the club under the threat of a transfer ban, preventing the registration of new athletes.
Internacional’s Financial Entanglement
The debt revolves around 70,000 euros, approximately R$ 400,000, an amount corresponding to overdue installments for the purchase of 50% of the player’s economic rights. The deal, closed in February 2025, totaled 140,000 euros, but according to the Ghanaian club, only the first installment has been honored so far.
The African club states that it attempted to negotiate directly with Internacional’s board on several occasions but did not receive a satisfactory response.
The legal team of Dansoman Wise, led by lawyer Leonardo Winck, is preparing the official filing with the highest football governing body. Internacional denies receiving formal notifications and maintains the stance that an amicable resolution is still possible before any sporting sanctions are applied to the Porto Alegre team.
Flamengo Shields Promising Defender
On the other hand, the news from the red-and-black camp is marked by the recognition of homegrown talent. Flamengo announced the contract renewal of defender Núbia, who now has a guaranteed contract with the institution until December 2029. The contract extension reflects the board’s policy of protecting talents who have excelled in the youth academy.
The renewal until 2029 is part of Flamengo’s strategy to value athletes developed in its youth categories and build a solid structure for the future of women’s football.
Since her arrival in 2021, Núbia has surpassed significant milestones. With 112 games played, she holds the record as the first player developed in the youth categories to reach the mark of 100 matches for the professional team. The defender’s trajectory includes major titles, such as the Copinha (2023) and the 2024 U-20 Brazilian Championship, in addition to two Rio state championships.
For the M360 team, Flamengo’s move indicates a search for long-term stability. While Internacional‘s administrative sector will need to resolve this issue quickly to avoid compromising the season’s planning, the Rio club is focused on maintaining a solid technical structure to continue competing at the top of national women’s football.
