Internacional and Ferroviária have secured their spots in the grand final of the Women’s U-17 Brasileirão after eliminating Vasco and Corinthians with dominant campaigns in the semifinals.
The stage is set for the future of Brazilian women’s soccer. After a weekend of intense matches, Internacional and Ferroviária lived up to the expectations and qualified for the final of the Women’s U-17 Brasileirão.
While the Gurias Coloradas look to solidify their hegemony in the category, the Guerreiras Grenás arrive with the ambition of lifting the trophy for the first time in their history.
The finalists were determined after a series of matchups in which the winners gave their opponents little chance.
With solid performances both at home and away, both teams head into the decisive clash buoyed by convincing displays, highlighting the technical growth of youth soccer in the country.
Dominance from Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo
Internacional made quick work of Vasco. After a confident 2-0 victory in Rio de Janeiro, the Colorado sealed their qualification with a 4-0 rout at the Francisco Novelletto stadium in Porto Alegre.
The 6-0 aggregate score reflects the technical superiority demonstrated by the team from Rio Grande do Sul throughout the knockout stage.
On the other side, Ferroviária overcame Corinthians in an action-packed all-São Paulo duel.
After winning the first leg 2-1 at the Arena Fonte Luminosa, the team from Araraquara triumphed again in the return leg, this time winning 3-1 in Santana de Parnaíba.
With a 5-2 aggregate score, Ferrinha eliminated the Brabinhas and punched their ticket to the final.
The pursuit of glory
Expectations are high for the final. The matchup pits two of the most traditional and successful schools of the sport in Brazil against each other.
Internacional takes the field aiming for a third consecutive title, which would further consolidate the club’s youth development project.
Meanwhile, Ferroviária enters the match as the team chasing its first title in the category.
The grená side, historically known for developing talent, sees this final as an opportunity to crown their youth development work with a maiden national trophy.
The next step will be the confirmation of dates and venues for the grand final by the CBF.
