Midfielder Giuliano has filed a labor lawsuit against Corinthians. The athlete alleges the breach of a million-dollar financial agreement concerning unpaid FGTS deposits.

Corinthians faces another turbulent chapter in its financial backend. This time, the protagonist of the legal dispute is midfielder Giuliano, who wore the black-and-white jersey between 2021 and 2023. The player is seeking in court to receive amounts related to late FGTS deposits, totaling over R$1 million after the non-compliance of a previously agreed payment plan.

The relationship between the parties, once a partnership on the field, has drastically deteriorated in the administrative arena. In May 2024, the club had committed to settling the outstanding amount in 16 installments, but the interruption of payments after the fifth installment forced the athlete to resort to the Judiciary to secure his labor rights.

History of the Debt and Missed Installments

The failed agreement outlined a payment schedule that the Timão’s financial management did not sustain. According to information obtained by Equipe M360, the player is now requesting not only the remaining balance, which is around R$1 million, but also the application of interest, fines, and proper monetary correction on the amounts improperly withheld by the São Paulo club.

“The interruption of the agreement signed in May demonstrates Corinthians’ chronic difficulty in honoring commitments with former athletes, overburdening the legal department with immediate enforcement demands,” analyzes Equipe M360 regarding the current scenario.

Other Outstanding Debts for the Black-and-Whites

This new lawsuit is not the only dispute between the parties. Giuliano is also claiming approximately R$1.5 million from Corinthians related to pending image rights. This specific amount has already been included in the Centralized Execution Regime (RCE), a mechanism used by the club to try to organize its civil and labor debts under high pressure from creditors.

The situation reflects the delicate cash flow moment for the Parque São Jorge team. While the squad strives to turn sports results around on the field, the board continues to face pressure from accumulated lawsuits from former players. The outcome of this action could set precedents for new seizure requests or revenue blockages, further complicating the season’s planning and the payment of current squad salaries.
