The club conglomerate offered approximately 10 million euros—roughly R$ 60 million—for the defender, who currently serves as captain for the Brazil U-20 national team.
The club’s board determined that the valuation did not align with the player’s market projection, especially as he continues to earn more opportunities in the professional squad. This is not the first time the center-back has been on the radar of European investors.
Back in July, a lower offer was promptly rejected by the club’s management. The Rio-based club’s strategy is clear: hold onto their homegrown talent, betting that his market value will skyrocket following the next U-20 World Cup.

The decision to keep the player gains momentum given the current state of the football department. With uncertainty surrounding Danilo‘s future, whose contract runs through 2027, the club is preparing its youth prospects to step up and shoulder responsibilities.
