In pursuit of greater excellence in athlete preparation, Flamengo has upgraded the facilities at Ninho do Urubu by installing a modern equipment drying system.
The George Helal Training Center, widely recognized as one of the top facilities in Brazilian football, continues to invest in technology to optimize the daily routine of its first team. The latest update to the club’s facilities is the installation of a Dry Boot, a high-performance boot dryer, which was unveiled last Tuesday in the area leading to the professional locker room.
The equipment uses a hot air system capable of drying not only boots but also gloves and caps within a few hours. The initiative aims to solve a long-standing issue for coaching staffs and kit men, who previously had to rely on makeshift methods on rainy days to ensure gear was ready for the next training session.
Impact on training routine
The implementation of the system has brought immediate relief to the staff working behind the scenes at Mais Querido. Kit man Sidão, who has been with the club for 13 years, highlighted the drastic change in workflow.
“Before, we had to take the boots, caps, and gloves to the machine room to dry, using a giant fan there. And we didn’t always manage to get them dry in time for the next session. Now, everything is dry in two hours.”
Players approve
The players also welcomed the new addition, especially following periods of training in adverse weather conditions. Goalkeeper Rossi emphasized the benefit for both performance and comfort during drills.
“For us goalkeepers, this heater is a blessing. It is very difficult to head onto the pitch with soaked gloves and an unpleasant odor,” the goalkeeper commented.
Midfielder Jorginho, who has extensive experience in European football, also praised Flamengo‘s facilities, noting that this technology raises the standard of equipment care. Furthermore, the new solution prevents boots and gloves from being damaged by excessive sun exposure, preserving the quality and durability of the gear.
