With a focus on assembling its 2027 squad, Flamengo is intensifying negotiations to secure the permanence of key team players and fast-track strategic contract renewals.

Flamengo‘s planning for the upcoming seasons is already underway behind the scenes at Gávea. After resolving midfielder Pulgar‘s situation, the red-and-black board has made it a priority to retain fundamental names from the current squad.

Among the athletes negotiating contract extensions are the experienced Danilo, striker Pedro, and defender Léo Pereira, all considered vital players by the football department.

This move reflects a strategy for stability through 2027, ensuring that valued players with a strong connection to the club have their contracts reviewed.

While the squad’s immediate focus is the decisive clash against Independiente del Valle in the Libertadores quarterfinals, the management is quietly working to avoid future uncertainties.

Absolute Priority: The Danilo Case

The most advanced situation at the club involves defender Danilo. Flamengo aims to finalize the new deal, which is expected to be valid until December 2027, when the player intends to end his career.

Regarding the player’s future, the M360 Team indicates that, despite external inquiries, the player’s focus remains on the Rubro-Negro (Flamengo).

“There’s a discussion within Flamengo itself for Danilo to remain after retirement, but at the moment, it’s still informal. There’s no defined role or written offer for his post-playing career.”

Salary Adjustments and Valuation

Striker Pedro is also on the agenda, seeking to correct an accumulated salary disparity. The discussions, which picked up pace after his knee injury recovery, aim to align the No. 9’s earnings with the current squad’s pay scale.

Similarly, Léo Pereira has moved up the board’s priority list due to his consistent performance and high demand in the transfer market.

In addition to them, goalkeeper Rossi and young Evertton Araújo — the latter seen as an asset for future appreciation — are also part of the renewal plans.

The objective is to balance the locker room and ensure that players awaiting recognition feel valued by the institution, thereby preventing potential internal dissatisfaction in light of recent transfer market movements.

Long-Term Planning

Flamengo had previously secured the permanence of players like Bruno Henrique and Alex Sandro, strengthening the team’s backbone.

With other athletes like Ayrton Lucas, Varela, and Luiz Araújo maintaining contracts until 2027, the board is now assessing who will be part of the next round of renewals.

The strategy demonstrates that, regardless of immediate results in continental competitions, the club is determined to avoid squad discontinuity, seeking to blend the experience of its idols with the growth potential of young talents under contract.
