Portuguese Football Market Value Update Places FC Porto Ahead in Squad Valuations, While Victor Froholdt Becomes the Competition’s Top-Ranked Player.
The latest market value update by specialized platform Transfermarkt has reshaped the financial landscape of the Liga Portugal. With the international transfer window closed, individual and collective valuations have seen significant changes in the competition among the country’s top three clubs.
FC Porto has maintained its leading position in the ranking of the most valuable squads in Portuguese football, reaching a total valuation of 470 million euros. The Dragons also now boast the league’s most valuable player following this assessment round.
Dragons at the Top and Victor Froholdt’s Leadership
Despite holding onto the top spot in budgetary rankings with a modest increase of 5.7 million euros, FC Porto now features the league’s most expensive player. Danish midfielder Victor Froholdt has achieved an individual valuation of 50 million euros, taking the highest position among the tournament’s athletes.
Benfica Surges with Rising Young Talents
The most significant collective jump during this period belongs to SL Benfica. The Eagles saw their squad’s overall market value increase by a substantial 47.9 million euros, reaching a consolidated mark of 422 million euros and securing the second position overall.
A large portion of this growth for the Lisbon club stems from the rise of Gianluca Prestianni. The Argentine winger has doubled his valuation and is now rated at 40 million euros, making him the second most valuable player in the competition. Other players like Vangelis Pavlidis, Tomás Araújo, Samuel Soares, and Banjaqui also contributed to the upward trend.
Sporting Loses Ground Despite Flávio Gonçalves Phenomenon
Previously holding Portugal’s most valuable squad, Sporting CP has dropped to third place in the financial rankings, standing at 413.7 million euros, despite a gross increase of 35 million euros in the latest evaluation.
The standout individual at Alvalade was the young prospect Flávio Gonçalves, who experienced an astonishing 582% valuation increase, rising from 2.2 million euros to reach the 15 million euro mark. Meanwhile, Geny Catamo increased his value to 35 million euros, and Ibrahima Ba climbed to 20 million euros.
Devaluations Affect Key Players Across the Big Three
Conversely, notable players have experienced financial decreases, each losing 5 million euros. Porto’s center forward Samu dropped to a valuation of 40 million euros, Sporting defender Gonçalo Inácio fell to 35 million euros, and Benfica’s goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin closed out the list at 20 million euros.
With the return of competitions following the international break, the new asset balance intensifies the race for the national title, where on-field performance will dictate future financial movements within the Portuguese elite.
