However, this situation does not shake internal confidence. Midfielder Evertton Araújo, in a recent statement, reinforced his belief in the current group’s capabilities.
In addition to his perspective on the transfer market, Evertton Araújo marked a special moment by reaching 100 appearances wearing the Sacred Jersey. The player is also directing his focus towards the team’s next crucial commitment in the Copa Libertadores, demonstrating the winning mentality that prevails at the club.
Confidence in the Current Squad
When asked about the absence of new names, Evertton Araújo expressed complete conviction in the quality of the Rubro-Negro squad. He believes that the current players possess the potential to lead Flamengo to its highest level. Nevertheless, the young midfielder stressed that reinforcements are always welcome to add depth.
“Our squad, as you know, is a very qualified one. All the players here have the full capability to elevate Flamengo to its maximum level. But, any players who come to help, to add, are always good. But that’s not something we control; that’s up to the management. We players, I think, just have to think about whoever is going in, giving their best —, he stated in a mixed zone interview after the 2-0 victory over Vitória.
Historic Milestone at Ninho
Last Sunday (09), during the second half of the match against Vitória, Evertton Araújo reached the mark of 100 games in a Flamengo jersey. The achievement was celebrated with gratitude by the athlete, who recalled his journey and the challenges overcome so far.
“I am very happy; I can only thank God. As I said on FlamengoTV, God made a turnaround in my life, (…) I kept getting stronger, every opportunity I had, both in the U-20 and with the professional team, I raised my level, I worked hard —“, he said, before continuing:
“Strengthening myself to get here today, this milestone (of 100 games for Flamengo) is very important to me. I am very happy; I can only thank God and my family, who have always helped me, always supported me, and I want to send a happy Father’s Day greeting to all fathers —“, the midfielder concluded.
Total Focus on the Libertadores
Next Wednesday (12) holds a major challenge for Flamengo, as they face Cruzeiro in the first leg of the Libertadores round of 16. The return leg, decisive for a spot in the quarterfinals, will be played the following week at the Maracanã. Evertton Araújo is optimistic about the Rio de Janeiro team’s preparation.
“A Libertadores game is always special; it’s always different; it’s a different atmosphere. But I believe our team is prepared, and we will work these two days until Wednesday to get there and, God willing, get a good result. For the next game, we aim for qualification —“, declared the player.
Praise for Teammates
Although he started on the bench against Vitória, Evertton Araújo came onto the field when the score was 1-0 and had a direct involvement in Bruno Henrique‘s goal, which sealed the 2-0 victory. During the celebration, Bruno Henrique pointed to Evertton in thanks. The midfielder, however, emphasized the importance of collective work.
“Everyone is important. (…) that’s what we say in the locker room before the games start. Everyone is important. Those who start, those who come in, all for the sake of Flamengo, to help Flamengo be where it needs to be —“, he concluded.
