Midfielder Evertton Araujo celebrates the historic milestone of 100 appearances for Flamengo, highlighting his evolution from the youth academy to becoming a key fixture in the professional squad.
Evertton Araujo‘s journey at Flamengo reached a significant milestone this Sunday (9). By taking the field against Vitória in the 22nd round of the Brazilian Serie A, the midfielder completed 100 official matches wearing the red-and-black jersey.
At 23, the player, who stands out for his tactical discipline and versatility, has firmly established himself as one of the top talents developed by the club.
For the athlete, the century mark carries significant emotional weight, transcending the pitch.
It is very special; I am very happy. It is very special not only for me but for my family as well. Because of everything they went through and everything I sacrificed to be here at Flamengo.
The athlete declared in an interview with the M360 Team.
From Volta Redonda to prominence
Born in Volta Redonda, the midfielder began his development at his hometown club, where he shaped his style as a defensive midfielder.
His transition to Rio de Janeiro happened after he stood out in the 2022 Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior. Initially signed on loan, the potential he demonstrated in the youth ranks convinced the Flamengo board to invest permanently in his career.
Overcoming adversity and achievements
The road to 100 games was not a straight line. In 2023, Evertton Araujo had to overcome a severe fibula fracture.
After his recovery period, he returned to match fitness with the U-20 squad, actively participating in the conquest of the Brazilian Serie A at that level.
His resilience was rewarded with a spot on the first team, where he collected major titles, such as the Copa do Brasil and the CONMEBOL Libertadores, in addition to scoring decisive goals that boosted his standing with the fans.
Future outlook
With consistent numbers in 2026—accumulating 35 matches played this year—the midfielder is experiencing his most stable technical moment.
The player is under contract with Flamengo until December 2028, which signals the club’s confidence in his continued development.
Focused on further expanding his history at the club, the number 52 remains a fundamental option for the upcoming challenges of the season, aiming to maintain the high win percentage that has characterized his journey so far.
