Danilo nears contract renewal with Flamengo and plans retirement in 2027.
The scorer of the goal that secured the 2025 Copa Libertadores title, defender Danilo, is on the verge of extending his contract with Flamengo. His current deal expires at the end of 2026, but an extension until December 2027 is already aligned, following a model similar to that of Alex Sandro.
The confirmation of the negotiations came this Sunday (13), following the Rio de Janeiro club’s 2-1 victory over Corinthians.
The defender, who had already expressed his desire to end his career in 2027 back in August, reiterated his plans. His goal is to conclude his professional journey wearing the Flamengo jersey, a club he considers close to his heart.
Danilo commented on his long-term planning:
I hope that 2027 will be a year where we can still be together, and that is when I plan to play the final year of my career.
Imminent renewal
When asked about the progress of the talks, Danilo was emphatic about how close the agreement is.
Regarding my renewal, I spoke about it a week or two ago, but there are still one or two things left. We should sign this week.
The defender expressed optimism about finalizing the deal in the coming days. The willingness of both parties to continue together reinforces the expectation of a positive outcome.
Career at Flamengo and legacy
Danilo arrived at Flamengo in January 2025 on a free transfer following his stint at Juventus (ITA). Since then, the defender has accumulated 55 appearances, scored five goals, and provided two assists.
His performance has been crucial for the team, including historic moments such as the 2025 Libertadores-winning goal and a decisive performance in the comeback against Chelsea (ENG) in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

With his potential renewal and focus on future retirement, Danilo is preparing for Flamengo‘s next challenge. The team returns to the pitch this Thursday (17) against Independiente del Valle (ECU).
