Corinthians expands Neo Química Arena capacity for decisive Libertadores clash.
Corinthians is seeking an extra push from its supporters to overturn the deficit against Estudiantes and advance to the Copa Libertadores semifinals. This Wednesday, the Neo Química Arena will feature an additional 1,537 seats in the South sector, bringing the total capacity to 50,582 spectators—a record for the club at the stadium.
This exceptional measure was made possible through an agreement with official bodies, including the Military Police, aimed at intensifying pressure on the Argentine side.
A boost for the ‘Fiel’
The announcement was made by the club on Monday, highlighting that the expansion will allow approximately 1,500 more fans to support the team directly behind the opponent’s goal.
This initiative comes as the Corinthians board studies a more permanent expansion of the stadium, which could add up to 12,000 seats given the high demand and matches that frequently reach maximum capacity, exceeding 40,000 spectators.
Temporary measure with strategic impact
The club explained:
The measure aims to increase pressure and the atmosphere at the Neo Química Arena, with more fans able to attend the match in the South sector, located behind the goal.
The total number of tickets available for sale will be 49,984, due to security zones required for segregating visiting fans, a standard procedure for matches with away supporters.
The additional tickets have been available on the Fiel Torcedor website since Monday night.
Collaboration and acknowledgments
The expansion was the result of collaborative work between Sport Club Corinthians Paulista and the relevant authorities.
The club expressed its gratitude to the São Paulo State Military Police, the Fire Department, and the Paulista Football Federation, whose cooperation was crucial for the temporary increase in attendance.
To date, the largest crowd for Corinthians this season was recorded in the classic match against Santos in the Brazilian Serie A, with 47,099 paying spectators and revenue exceeding R$ 3.2 million. Now, the expectation is to break that mark and create an even more intimidating atmosphere for the decision against Estudiantes.
