Conmebol has detailed the accumulated earnings for the semifinalists of the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, highlighting the financial impact for Brazilian clubs this season.

The governing body of South American football updated the financial landscape of the continent’s main competitions on Thursday (24). With their advancement to the decisive stages, the coffers of the semifinalist teams have received significant capital injections, stemming from accumulated fees and performance bonuses.

The scenario underscores the prominence of Brazilian teams, which have a strong presence in the final stretches of both tournaments. The transparency in the figures reinforces the valuation of the tournaments organized by the confederation, setting the stage for the clashes that will determine the year’s grand finalists.

The Top Earnings in Libertadores

In the continent’s premier club competition, Flamengo leads the partial earnings ranking. The Rio-based club has accumulated $9.61 million, surpassing the mark of its closest direct competitors in the race for South America’s most coveted title.

Following closely is Palmeiras, with $9.27 million in its campaign. Fluminense and Argentina’s Estudiantes de La Plata are tied just behind, each accounting for $8.93 million, demonstrating financial parity in the tournament’s intense phases.

Revenue Scenario in Sudamericana

Meanwhile, the Copa Sudamericana also involves considerable sums for teams undergoing rebuilding or seeking international recognition. Vasco da Gama is a surprise leader in earnings for the competition, reaching $3.87 million in its journey so far.

Montevideo City Torque is listed just below with $3.73 million, closely followed by Atlético Mineiro, which earned $3.38 million. Another notable team is Boca Juniors, which accumulated $2.6 million in the Sudamericana, in addition to sums previously earned during its run in the Libertadores.

Next Steps and Final Prizes

The millionaire figures released by Conmebol are far from final. The clubs will still compete for spots in the grand finals, where the prizes reserved for the champions and runners-up will drastically increase the annual earnings of the institutions involved in the tournaments.

For the winner of the Copa Libertadores, the reward will be $25 million, with $7 million designated for the runner-up. In the Copa Sudamericana, the champion will pocket $10 million, while the second-place finisher will receive a share of $2.5 million.
