CBF confirms Flamengo’s matches against Botafogo and Remo; fans celebrate traditional time slot.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced on Friday (14) the dates and times for two more Flamengo matches in the Brazilian Serie A. The Rubro-Negro will face Botafogo and Remo in games both scheduled for Sundays at 4:00 PM (Brasilia time), marking the Rio club’s return to the traditional time slot for national broadcast television.
MATCHES SET IN THE BRASILEIRÃO
The 25th round will feature the Rio derby between Flamengo and Botafogo on August 30 at the Maracanã. In the following round, the 26th, the Mais Querido travels to Belém to face Remo on September 6 at the Mangueirão, also at 4:00 PM.
These fixtures join the already confirmed matches against Mirassol (August 16, 6:30 PM) and Cruzeiro (August 22, 8:30 PM), valid for the 23rd and 24th rounds, respectively.
FANS CELEBRATE RETURN TO 4:00 PM KICKOFF
The announcement brought satisfaction to a portion of the Flamengo fanbase. The club had been absent from the “traditional time slot” for Sunday afternoon football since the 18th round, before the break for the World Cup. The last time the team played during that period was in a 3-0 victory over Coritiba.
Despite the celebration, journalist Pedro Paulo Catonho, from Coluna do Fla, highlighted some points of concern. He noted that the game in Belém against Remo could present weather challenges, such as heat and the possibility of rain. Catonho also emphasized the importance of Flamengo‘s performance in these matches to maintain pressure on the league leaders.
Pedro Paulo Catonho noted:
Personally, I like the 4:00 PM time slot. However, specifically for this game against Remo, I don’t think it’s a good one. There’s heat and a chance of rain, which is traditional at this time in Belém. But that cannot be an excuse for those who want to be Brazilian champions.
He added:
Another curiosity about the schedule: in these two rounds, Palmeiras will play afterward. In other words, if Flamengo beats Remo and Botafogo, they will put pressure on the championship leader. Some people like that, others don’t. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
Expectations are now on Flamengo‘s performance in these matches, which could be crucial in the race for the Brazilian Serie A title.
