Atlético-GO names Roger Silva as new head coach for the remainder of the Série B season
Atlético-GO moved quickly and announced on Tuesday afternoon the hiring of Roger Silva as the team’s new head coach. The manager, who had recent stints at Sport and América-MG, arrives with the mission of guiding the ‘Dragão’ through the Série B season.
Experience and playing career
At 41 years old, Roger Silva brings significant experience to the table in Brazilian football. Beyond his most recent roles, the manager has also coached clubs such as Athletic, Primavera-MT, Manaus, Pouso Alegre, and Inter de Limeira. As a player, Roger had a notable career as a striker, featuring for major clubs such as Corinthians, Palmeiras, Ponte Preta, Internacional, Botafogo, Chapecoense, and Athletico-PR.
Immediate debut and new coaching staff
The new manager will be officially introduced to the club this Wednesday and will face an immediate challenge: leading Atlético-GO this Sunday against Fortaleza. The match, part of the 17th round of Série B, is scheduled for 6:00 PM at the Antônio Accioly Stadium. While Roger Silva takes the helm, Renan Brito, who managed the team on an interim basis in recent rounds, will remain with the club as an assistant on the permanent coaching staff, becoming part of the new structure.
