The arrival of coach Tite and new signings has transformed Botafogo‘s digital landscape. The Rio de Janeiro club led monthly social media subscriber growth for the first time, boosting engagement and reaching historic milestones in Brazilian football.
September 2026 went down in Botafogo history within the digital environment. According to the latest edition of the Brazilian Clubs Digital Ranking by IBOPE Repucom, the Rio de Janeiro side reached the top of monthly subscriber growth for the first time.
This expressive surge directly reflects the impact of the arrival of renowned coach Tite and key reinforcements for the squad. Together, the five clubs that grew the most during the period added about 1.3 million new followers, but it was Botafogo that stole the show in national sports.
Botafogo leads and surpasses 7 million followers
Botafogo recorded an impressive addition of 345,000 new subscribers across all its official platforms during the month. Facebook led this surge, accounting for 44% of “Fogão’s” total growth. In addition, the club shone on TikTok and Instagram, consolidating a solid digital strategy that allowed the club to surpass the milestone of 7 million followers across its combined social media networks.
Santos and Flamengo stand out on the national scene
Santos secured the second-best result in September, accumulating 329,100 new followers. “Peixe” found its main strength on Instagram, where it gained 148,000 new followers, alongside great numbers on TikTok and YouTube.
Right behind, Flamengo added 320,000 new subscribers. “Rubro-Negro” maintained its traditional strength on social media, standing out especially on Instagram and achieving the highest YouTube growth among all monitored clubs during the period.
Grêmio and Atlético-MG round out the Top 5 with expressive numbers
Grêmio secured fourth place by adding 169,000 new subscribers, with a strong predominance of TikTok in its strategy. Meanwhile, Atlético-MG rounded out the Top 5 with 119,000 new subscriptions, driven mostly by Instagram, which pushed “Galo” to the impressive milestone of 12 million total followers. Another highlight was Santa Cruz, which celebrated the historic mark of 2 million combined subscribers across its platforms.
The digital success of Botafogo and other traditional Brazilian football clubs demonstrates how on-field performance and the transfer market directly influence fan engagement. Projections for the coming months indicate that the race for social media engagement will remain fierce, with clubs investing increasingly in content and big names to attract new subscribers.
