Arsenal is intensifying behind-the-scenes negotiations and preparing a final offer of 500 million reais to secure the signing of Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle.

The transfer window in the Premier League is heating up, and Bruno Guimarães‘s future seems increasingly distant from St. James’ Park. After an intense participation in the World Cup, where he alternated good moments with the frustration of a missed penalty against Norway, the Brazilian defensive midfielder has become Mikel Arteta‘s priority target to strengthen Arsenal’s creative sector.

The London club, which has already had two previous bids rejected by the Magpies — for 320 million and 450 million reais, respectively — is now preparing a final proposal in the range of half a billion reais. The negotiation between the clubs’ management has been ongoing for over a month, with the Gunners showing willingness to reach 72 million pounds to close the deal.

Behind the transfer and the player’s desire

Despite being captain and one of the biggest idols of the Newcastle fanbase, Bruno Guimarães views a move to one of the “Big Six” clubs favorably. The 28-year-old player believes that wearing the Arsenal jersey would be a fundamental step in his career to reach new heights in European football.

“The player does not intend to force a hostile departure, but maintains the expectation that the clubs will reach a common ground soon,” point out sources close to the negotiations. Newcastle, which acquired the midfielder in 2022 from Lyon, recognizes the player’s excellent technical and financial return and, therefore, is unlikely to hinder the deal, as long as the amount meets their financial requirements.

Key reinforcement for Mikel Arteta

Should the transaction be completed, the Brazilian will find an extremely competitive midfield packed with stars at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners’ squad already boasts elite players such as Declan Rice, Mikel Merino, Martin Zubimendi, and the Norwegian Martin Odegaard, who dictates the team’s tempo.

Arsenal‘s move reflects the club’s ambition to dominate the English and European scene next season. While fans await the outcome of this saga, the expectation is that the deal will be finalized in the coming days, solidifying one of the most expensive and impactful transfers involving a Brazil national team player in this summer market.
