The Brazilian Men’s Volleyball National Team found its winning touch in the Nations League again! In an electrifying duel against Canada, Bernardinho’s squad secured a tie-break victory, rekindling hope for Paris.

The quest for redemption in the Men’s Nations League had a heroic chapter this Sunday (28). In Ljubljana, Slovenia, the Brazilian National Team engaged in an intense battle against Canada, emerging victorious 3-2 (25/17, 23/25, 28/26, 22/25, and 17/15). The triumph, achieved with great heart and resilience, is a balm after a streak of three consecutive losses, crucial for keeping Brazil firmly in contention for a spot in the next phase of the competition and consolidating its position in the world rankings.

Under the command of the legendary Bernardinho, the team showed that passion and grit remain intact, even in the face of challenging moments. The victory was not just a positive scoreline but a demonstration of fighting spirit, vital for the team’s morale. With this result, Brazil remains in 8th place, within the qualification zone, while Canada stays in 16th position.

Fast Start and Brazilian Dominance

Brazil entered the court with the determination to change the narrative. At the Stožice Arena, the initial intensity was overwhelming, culminating in a dominant 25-17 victory in the first set. The team built a comfortable lead, capitalizing on opponent errors. Outside hitter Adriano, with five points, stood out as the main offensive force during this period, setting the pace for the squad.

Canadian Reaction and Renewed Balance

Despite the strong start, Brazilian intensity wavered in the second set, and Canada seized the opportunity. Led by middle blocker Jackson Howe, the North Americans raised their game and imposed difficulties, closing the set 25-23. Brazil’s drop in performance allowed the Canadians to gain momentum, making it clear that victory would not come easily.

Redemption in the Deciding Set

The third set was a mix of emotions and refereeing controversies. With the lead alternating point by point, the tension was palpable. While Sharone Vernon-Evans shone for Canada, Adriano and Arthur Bento took responsibility for the Brazilian side. In a moment of redemption, Arthur Bento, who had made a crucial error in the previous set, secured Brazil’s 28-26 victory with a decisive ace, boosting the team’s spirit.

The Battle Persists Until the Tie-Break

The fourth set maintained its balanced tone. Sharone continued to be a constant threat for the Canadians, but Brazil responded with powerful attacks from Arthur and Adriano, as well as middle blocker Judson. However, Canada showed resilience and closed the set 25-22, forcing a decisive tie-break after a successful challenge by the coaching staff.

The Epic Comeback and the End of the Slump

The tie-break was the epitome of the match: pure emotion and point-by-point competition. Even after an error that gave Canada the lead, including an ace from Sharone, the Brazilian National Team did not falter. With calm and determination, Bernardinho’s players fought back for the comeback, sealing a 17-15 victory and, more importantly, breaking their frustrating streak of negative results.

This triumph is more than just a win; it’s a reaffirmation of Brazilian grit in volleyball. Having rediscovered the path to victory, the Brazilian National Team gains momentum and confidence for the rest of the VNL. The next challenge is on July 17th against the powerful France, at the Now Arena in Illinois, United States. It will be another battle where “Raça, Amor e Paixão” (Grit, Love, and Passion) will be put to the test, aiming to secure their spot and continue dreaming big in the competition.
