Rafa Marcos parts ways with Nacional following Serie C promotion
Forward Rafa Marcos, the top scorer for Nacional-AM this season, has terminated his contract with the club following their historic promotion to the Brazilian Serie C. The departure of the player, who was a key figure in the team’s campaign, was made official this Thursday (10) with his registration entry in the CBF‘s Daily Informative Bulletin (BID).
Leading scorer and key player of the season
Signed for the 2026 season, 27-year-old Rafa Marcos concludes his stint at Nacional as the team’s leading goalscorer for the year, finding the net nine times in 41 matches. Beyond his goal-scoring ability, the forward provided five assists and became one of head coach Thiago Gomes‘ most important players.
His impact was felt in crucial moments, such as the goal that secured their spot in the Campeonato Amazonense final against Manauara and the decisive strike in the 3-1 victory over CSA, which virtually sealed the club’s promotion to Serie C.
Career path and new challenges
Before arriving in Amazonian football, Rafa Marcos had stints at several clubs, including Confiança, Gama, Concórdia, Aparecidense—where he won the Serie D title in 2021—Rio Claro, and Grêmio Anápolis.
The departure of Rafa Marcos marks the third roster exit for Nacional following their historic promotion to Serie C, following center-backs Anderson Alagoano and Gabriel Recife. For next year, Nacional-AM is preparing for a challenging schedule, including the Campeonato Amazonense, Copa Norte, Copa do Brasil, and, for the first time in their history, the Brazilian Serie C.
