Flamengo is organizing complex logistics for the Libertadores quarterfinals. The team will travel directly from Belém to Quito, aiming to optimize altitude preparation to face Independiente Del Valle, while balancing the Brazilian Serie A.

Flamengo is gearing up for a period of great intensity, with important decisions on two fronts: the Brazilian Championship and the coveted Copa Libertadores. The approaching quarterfinals of the continental tournament, which involves a challenging trip to Ecuador, requires the club to have a meticulous planning strategy to reconcile commitments.

The main novelty in the red-and-black team’s agenda is the decision to head directly from Belém to Quito, Ecuador’s capital. This atypical route, which avoids returning to Rio de Janeiro, aims to minimize fatigue and optimize adaptation to the 2,850-meter altitude, where the ‘Mais Querido’ (Most Beloved) will face Independiente Del Valle.

Strategy for the Altitude

The red-and-black squad will have a tight schedule. After the match against Remo, in the 26th round of the Brazilian Serie A, on September 6th in Belém, Flamengo will proceed to Ecuador. This information was reported by the M360 Team. The duel against Independiente Del Valle will be played on September 10th, a Thursday, at the Estadio Atahualpa.

Intense and Challenging Schedule

The sequence of commitments begins even before the international trip. This Sunday (30th), Flamengo faces Botafogo at the Maracanã, in a match valid for the 25th round of the Brazilian Serie A. Then, on Saturday (September 5th), the delegation will travel to Belém, where on Sunday (6th) they will face Remo at 4 PM (Brasília time), at the Mangueirão.

On Monday (7th), the team will embark for Ecuador. September 8th and 9th will be dedicated to adaptation training in Quito, before the decisive clash against Del Valle, at 9:30 PM (Brasília time) on Thursday (10th). The team will be away from Rio de Janeiro for at least a week, with training and accommodation locations in Ecuador still being finalized.

Long Journey Away from Rio

The complex logistics demonstrate Flamengo‘s priority to advance in the Libertadores, even with the need to maintain good performance in the Brazilian Championship. The decision not to return to Rio de Janeiro between matches is a sacrifice in pursuit of the best possible preparation to overcome the altitude and a qualified opponent.

The return leg of the Libertadores match will be at the Maracanã on September 17th, but until then, Rubro-Negro (Red-and-Black) will have to navigate an exhaustive calendar and long journeys. The squad’s management capability and rapid adaptation to different playing conditions will be crucial for success in this critical phase of the season.
