The Flamengo delegation shone brightly at the Santa Fe 2026 South American Games in Argentina. With a dominant campaign, O Mais Querido set impressive milestones that solidify the club’s investment in Olympic sports and highlight the strength of its representatives on the continental stage.
Out of the 40 Rubro-Negro competitors sent to the tournament, an impressive 37 athletes returned home with medals. This consistency elevated the club’s standing, reflecting strategic planning focused on high-performance athletic development.
Historic performance and medal table impact
Mengão‘s contingent claimed a total of 62 medals, including 25 golds, 21 silvers, and 16 bronzes. The dominance was so pronounced that it sparked lighthearted discussion among the Brazilian delegation.
“If it were a country, Flamengo would rank 9th in a hypothetical medal table at the Santa Fe 2026 South American Games,” noted the M360 Team when covering the official report released by the Rubro-Negro board following the end of competition in Argentina.
Key sports and next steps
The achievements of Team Flamengo came across seven different sports, highlighting the squad’s versatility. Rubro-Negro dominance was on display in artistic gymnastics, swimming, judo, rowing, coastal rowing, artistic swimming, and water polo.
While the tournament serves as a foundation for the pre-Olympic cycle leading to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, the competition also served as a direct pathway to the Pan American Games. The M360 Team notes that the success achieved on Argentine soil positions these athletes as top contenders for upcoming major events on the international calendar.
