Flamengo falls well short of the financial target projected for the season through player sales, accumulating BRL 171.6 million out of the initially anticipated BRL 250 million.
Flamengo‘s management is facing a challenging economic scenario this season.
When outlining its annual planning, the red-and-black board established a significant revenue goal of BRL 250 million from player transfers.
However, as the end of the year approaches, the Rio de Janeiro club’s leadership acknowledges that the set objective will not be reached, generating a considerable deficit in the projected budget.
To date, Mengão‘s coffers have recorded an amount of BRL 171.6 million from transactions involving players from the first-team squad and youth categories.
With the closing of the main transfer windows both domestically and abroad, the possibilities for new negotiations have become scarce.
Only the Arab transfer market remains available for potential last-minute moves before the period closes.
The main negotiations of the year
Even with a squad packed with talent, Mais Querido encountered difficulties in pulling off sales with a major financial impact.
The most lucrative transfer of the period was the departure of youngster Ryan Roberto to Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine, negotiated for 9.5 million euros.
Additionally, the Rio club secured a profit of BRL 35 million through the solidarity mechanism in the sale of João Gomes to Aston Villa of England.
Failing negotiations also weighed on the balance sheet, such as the near-certain sale of Plata to Dynamo Moscow, which was canceled after he failed his medical examinations.
Preference for on-field performance
Flamengo‘s board evaluated that, in order to reach the target set at the beginning of the year, it would have been necessary to trade foundational pillars of the starting lineup.
Athletes such as Samuel Lino, Léo Pereira, and Léo Ortiz attracted interest from the international market.
The leadership chose to reject the approaches, prioritizing sporting competitiveness over immediate profit.

Focus on the pitch and upcoming fixtures
While the board tallies the numbers from the financial department, the squad led by the technical staff is directing all its attention to the on-field challenges in the Brazilian Serie A.
This Thursday (8), Flamengo takes the pitch to face Santos at Vila Belmiro, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 PM (Brasília time).
The team is looking to pick up valuable points to stay firm near the top of the standings in the premier national competition.
