Despite winning the Campeonato Carioca, the coach admitted he expected to have had more time to establish his playing philosophy within the Rubro-Negro squad.

Tite‘s spell at Gávea was marked by ups and downs, starting with a defensive overhaul and the state title trophy.

However, the strain in his relationship with the fans and inconsistent results in cup competitions sealed the manager’s fate before the end of the year, frustrating his desire to conclude his cycle with long-term goals achieved.

The decisive factor of injuries

According to the head coach, the main obstacle preventing Flamengo from maintaining its expected performance in the second half of the year was the medical department.

The manager highlighted that the simultaneous loss of key attacking players hurt the team’s tactical performance in crucial matchups, directly impacting the team’s creative output during high-pressure moments.

The manager stated:

The stint at Flamengo did have seven very good months, and I would have liked to stay to finish my job. What’s frustrating is that the three forward players got injured together at decisive moments. And then our attacking power dropped.

Legacy and reflection on the work

Despite the termination of his contract, Tite emphasized positive aspects of his tenure.

He praised victories over top-tier opponents, such as Palmeiras and Bahia, as well as the state title that ended a trophy drought at the club.

The coach reiterated that, although he understands the dynamics of soccer, the feeling that the team was on the right track persists, leaving a bitter taste due to the lack of continuity.

The interview was analyzed by the M360 Team as a reflection of a culture focused on immediate results in Brazil.

Currently, the head coach is looking for a new chapter, while Flamengo continues its season, now focusing on its upcoming challenges in the Brazilian Serie A, where it is trying to regain stability after managerial changes over recent months.
