Midfielder Lorran, a Flamengo academy product, has been officially announced as Sharjah FC‘s newest signing from the United Arab Emirates, in a deal valued at R$ 7.7 million.
Lorran‘s time at Flamengo came to an end this week. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, once considered one of the most promising talents from the Rio de Janeiro club’s youth academy, was transferred to Sharjah FC of the United Arab Emirates for 1.3 million euros.
As part of the agreement, Flamengo (the Rubro-Negro) secured 30% of the player’s economic rights, aiming for potential profit from future transfers.
Career Path and Expectations at Flamengo
The player gained national attention in January 2023 when he became the youngest player in history to score a goal for Flamengo‘s senior team, at 16 years, 6 months, and 20 days old, in a match against Bangu.
Despite the initial expectations, Lorran‘s career at the club did not take off as fans and the coaching staff had hoped.
Loan Spells and Departure
In total, the midfielder played 33 matches for Flamengo‘s professional team, registering three goals and three assists. Unable to establish himself, he was loaned to Pisa of Italy last season, where he had a discreet stint with 10 appearances and only one goal scored.
After returning to Ninho do Urubu midway through the year and participating in the mid-season training camp in Portugal, Lorran was given new opportunities, scoring one of the goals in the 4-0 rout over Chapecoense in the Brazilian Serie A.
However, with the return of players who had been in the medical department, the youngster lost his place in the squad managed by the coaching staff, finalizing his departure for Arab football.
