Brazil was defeated by Norway 2-1 this Sunday (5) in a Round of 16 clash at the World Cup. After the elimination, head coach Carlo Ancelotti explained his decision to make substitutions in the second half. “I think it was a good game in some respects; we had many opportunities in the first half and also in the second when it was 0-0. The changes were intended to bring in more freshness and provide more depth to try and win the match,” the manager declared. Leaving the pitch, Ancelotti did not appear for the post-match press conference. Davide, the Italian’s son and assistant coach for the Brazil national team, stood in for his father. Reporters from CazéTV asked him about the head coach’s absence to address the elimination. “I don’t know. It’s likely due to the timing of the match right now; that’s not a question for me,” said Davide, a former Botafogo manager, shrugging off the inquiry. Carlo Ancelotti took charge of the Brazilian team in May of last year and signed a contract extension before the World Cup. His current deal with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) runs through 2030.
