Coritiba Signs Uruguayan Brian Ocampo, Formerly of Cádiz, to Strengthen Attack and Maintain Good Form in the Brazilian Serie A

Coritiba made a splash in the transfer window this Friday (3) by announcing the signing of 26-year-old Uruguayan forward Brian Ocampo. The player arrives to bolster the *alviverde* squad for the remainder of the Brazilian Serie A season, having previously played for Cádiz in Spain, where he was a free agent. The contract signed with *Coxa* is valid for three seasons, until 2029.

Brian Ocampo: A Significant Reinforcement for Coritiba

Having played for Nacional in Uruguay and most recently Cádiz, Brian Ocampo brings European football experience, particularly from La Liga. His transfer to the Spanish club in 2022 was valued at approximately 1.9 million euros. Last season, the forward appeared in 31 matches, scoring five goals and providing two assists, showcasing his offensive prowess.

Ocampo’s arrival at *Coxa* is strategic. He will play on the wings, intensifying internal competition and providing more tactical options for the coach, who may change with Fernando Seabra’s imminent departure to Vasco. Furthermore, the Uruguayan emerges as a valuable alternative amid potential interest from other clubs in Lucas Ronier, a key player in Coritiba’s attack.

Coritiba Prepares for the Resumption of the Brazilian Serie A

While the board actively works in the transfer market, Coritiba’s squad is set to reconvene at CT da Graciosa next Wednesday (17). The team already has two training matches scheduled against Internacional and Chapecoense.

The club’s strategy during this calendar break, necessitated by the World Cup, focuses on player recovery and the integration of new signings. *Coxa*, which concluded the first half of the Brazilian Serie A in seventh place with 26 points, aims to maintain its strong performance when the league restarts against Palmeiras, tentatively scheduled for July 22.
