The CBF has set the refereeing panel for the clash between Flamengo and Vitória at the Maracanã, selecting experienced referee Wilton Pereira Sampaio to lead the match.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has officially announced that Wilton Pereira Sampaio will be in charge of officiating the duel between Flamengo and Vitória. The match, part of the Brazilian Championship, is scheduled for this Sunday (August 9th) at 7:30 PM (Brasília time) at the Maracanã.
The referee from Goiás has a long history in games involving Mais Querido, having officiated 43 matches. During this period, Flamengo’s record under his refereeing is 24 wins, 10 draws, and nine losses. However, his performance in 2026 shows different results, including the loss against São Paulo and the recent draw against Vasco.
History and expectations for the match
Interestingly, this will be only the second time that Wilton Pereira Sampaio officiates a direct confrontation between the two teams. The only previous instance occurred in August 2018, when Flamengo defeated the team from Bahia 1-0, with a goal from Diego Ribas.
