New signings Valencia and Freitas are available for Flamengo’s debut against Remo.
Expectations are rising at Ninho do Urubu with the inclusion of Anthony Valencia and Joaquín Freitas in the Flamengo squad list for the clash against Remo in the Brazilian Serie A. The potential debut of the duo, who arrived in Rio de Janeiro late last week, marks a new chapter in the red-and-black season.
Following a quick resolution of bureaucratic matters and medical examinations, Valencia and Freitas have been integrated into training sessions under head coach Leonardo Jardim. The coaching staff had time to evaluate the individual characteristics of the forwards, who were active at their previous clubs, Royal Antwerp and River Plate, respectively.
First days at the club
The arrival of Anthony Valencia last Sunday (30) kicked off the duo’s integration. On Monday (31), it was Joaquín Freitas‘ turn to report for duty. Immediately after their medical procedures, both began physical and tactical work with the rest of the squad, showing good physical conditioning.
Ready for the match
With their registrations regularized in the CBF’s BID (Daily Bulletin), Valencia and Freitas are eligible to make their debut. Reports indicate that the expectation is for both to see minutes on the pitch against Remo at the Mangueirão stadium. This opportunity is seen as crucial for the players’ adaptation and for the coach’s planning ahead of Flamengo’s upcoming schedule.
Next match
Flamengo faces Remo this Sunday (06), at 4:00 PM (Brasilia time), in a match valid for the Brazilian Serie A. The game will be held at the Mangueirão stadium.
