After scoring the equalizer, goalkeeper Agustín Rossi was seen arguing with a fan who, according to the keeper, had made harsh criticisms during halftime of the match against Independiente del Valle.
The player, who played a decisive role by assisting Arrascaeta‘s goal, admitted that the physical and mental stress of the moment influenced his reaction. In a mixed-zone interview, Rossi apologized for his behavior but stressed that negative comments from fans, especially when trailing, disrupt the supportive environment the squad needs to mount a comeback.
The Goalkeeper’s Version of the Conflict
The Argentine goalkeeper detailed that the argument occurred due to a specific insinuation from the fan that the team would “throw the game.” For the player, this type of attitude does not align with the role of the Rubro-Negro supporters.
Leonardo Jardim stated:
“It happens sometimes. To vent some of that anger at a fan, specifically at halftime, when I was leaving, saying we would throw the game again. So, it was an unusual reaction. I apologize to the fan. It was a moment of anger, of emotion, but we don’t need that type of fan.”

Rossi‘s involvement was fundamental to securing a spot in the next phase of the continental competition. In the 38th minute of the second half, the goalkeeper launched a long ball that bypassed the Independiente del Valle defense and found Arrascaeta unmarked.
