Real Madrid breaks record, announces Yan Diomande for $832 million
Real Madrid officially confirmed the signing of Ivorian forward Yan Diomande this Thursday (6).
In a statement, the Spanish club confirmed the agreement with RB Leipzig and announced that the player signed a seven-year contract, running until June 30, 2033.
The transaction, valued at approximately 130 million euros (about $832 million), became the most expensive in the history of the Merengue club, ending one of the biggest transfer sagas of the current window.
After days of intense negotiations and some hurdles involving the player’s representation, Diomande completed his medical exams and his officialization by Real Madrid was finalized. The young forward, only 19 years old, arrives at the Santiago Bernabéu after a standout season in German football.
Standout in the Bundesliga and National Team
Signed by RB Leipzig in 2025 from Leganés, Yan Diomande quickly made his mark in the Bundesliga, attracting interest from several European giants, including PSG.
For the German club, the forward scored 13 goals and provided nine assists, in addition to ranking among the players with the most dribbles in the league.
His strong performance also extended to the Ivory Coast national team, where he was an important player in the last World Cup.
Although PSG was speculated as the favorite at one point, Real Madrid acted quickly to secure the signing, overcoming competition and closing the deal with Leipzig.
Sixth Signing and Squad Plan
Diomande is the sixth reinforcement announced by Real Madrid for the season, joining a squad that already includes names like Bernardo Silva, Konaté, Cucurella, Dumfries, and Carlos Espí.
The forward, who primarily plays on the right wing but can also play on the left, expands the offensive options for coach José Mourinho, who also has Mbappé, Vini Jr, Rodrygo, Endrick, and Bernardo Silva.
With the arrival of Diomande, the Spanish club signals the end of its main signings for the window, and the expectation now shifts to potential player departures, aiming to balance the squad and maintain competitiveness on all fronts.
Real Madrid is strengthening itself in an effort to maintain its hegemony in world football.
