Paris Saint-Germain is adopting a bold strategy in the transfer market: the club aims for billion-dollar revenue from selling reserve players to keep its winning core intact.

PSG, historically known as a buying giant responsible for the most expensive transfers in football history with Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, is undergoing a drastic change in approach. Having solidified its position after winning two consecutive European titles, the Parisian club is now focusing on efficient squad management to maximize profits. The goal is clear: to achieve record revenue in this transfer window, with figures potentially reaching R$1.7 billion.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Cash Strategy

PSG‘s board understands that the path to success in the 2026/27 season involves refreshing the attacking sector, but without dismantling Luis Enrique‘s starting lineup. The club has already begun this process with the sale of Gonçalo Ramos to Milan for 70 million euros, followed by advanced negotiations for Lee Kang-in with Atlético de Madrid.

Paris Saint-Germain primarily seeks financial balance and the renewal of players who are not part of the main core, ensuring investment power for targeted signings,” sources close to the club indicate.

Who’s on the Departure List?

In addition to deals already underway, PSG plans significant moves involving players who have lost their place in the squad. Among them, forward Kolo Muani, who returned from a loan spell at Tottenham, stands out as one of the main assets, attracting interest from Juventus. Another name generating anticipation is youth academy prospect Ibrahim Mbaye, who shone at the World Cup with the Senegal national team and has caught the eye of clubs like Manchester City and Aston Villa.

The Bradley Barcola Case

One of the most sensitive points of the transfer window concerns forward Bradley Barcola. Although PSG wants to keep him, the player is coveted by Premier League giants such as Arsenal and Liverpool. Should contract renewal talks not progress, the French club does not rule out negotiating the player for values around 150 million euros.

While defining departures, Paris Saint-Germain is working to finalize the arrivals of Maghnes Akliouche and Yan Diomandé, reinforcements expected to elevate the squad’s rotation level under Luis Enrique‘s command. The “sell to keep” strategy reflects a new and ambitious phase for the two-time European champions, who continue to seek to maintain their hegemony in world football.
