Yago Pikachu, a Remo player, acknowledges Flamengo‘s favoritism for the upcoming Brazilian Serie A match, but points out the need for efficiency in their limited attacking opportunities.
As Flamengo prepares to face Remo following a win over Mirassol, the stage is set for a challenging fixture for the Rubro-Negro in the Brazilian Serie A. Full-back Yago Pikachu admitted the Rio de Janeiro side’s superiority but emphasized the importance of a strategy focused on capitalizing on chances.
The match, valid for the 26th round of the championship, pits second-placed Flamengo—with 51 points, just one behind leaders Palmeiras—against Remo, who sit in the relegation zone with 23 points. The gap in the standings highlights the favoritism of the team from Gávea.
Counter-attacking strategy and precision
In an interview following Remo‘s defeat to Coritiba, Yago Pikachu analyzed the upcoming match against Flamengo:
Against Flamengo, we won’t have the majority of possession. Therefore, we will have to exploit counter-attacks and the transitions that arise. We need to be efficient with the opportunities we get on Sunday.
Pikachu also looked for inspiration in past matches:
We already faced Palmeiras, one of the best teams on the continent, and we played a great game. We have to hold onto that. We need to pick up points.
Reunion at Mangueirão
This will not be the first time Flamengo and Remo meet in this edition of the Brazilian Serie A. In the first half of the season, Flamengo won 3-0 at the Maracanã, with goals from Léo Ortiz, Samuel Lino, and Luiz Araújo.
Now, the match will be held at Mangueirão, in Belém, this Sunday (06) at 4:00 PM (Brasília Time). The match will be broadcast by Globo, GE TV, and Premiere.
The weight of rivalry and the fight for survival
Flamengo is on a high in the championship. Leonardo Jardim‘s team is looking to maintain consistency to overtake Palmeiras and capture another Brazilian title.
On the other hand, Remo faces the harsh reality of the relegation zone. With only five wins in 23 matches, the team urgently needs to collect points to avoid the drop.
The match against Flamengo, although viewed as an uphill battle, could be an opportunity to pull off an upset and spark a turnaround in the competition. The pursuit of points is critical for both teams in the final stretch of the 2026 Brazilian Serie A.
