Pedrinho BH acknowledges Flamengo’s strength and supports them in Libertadores, but focuses on the Copa do Brasil.
Following Cruzeiro‘s elimination from the Libertadores, Pedrinho BH, owner of the club’s SAF, gave a frank analysis of the confrontation against Flamengo. Far from making excuses, the executive admitted the technical superiority and greater investment power of the Rio de Janeiro club.
This stance demonstrates management maturity and focus on future challenges.
Despite the unfavorable result, Cruzeiro‘s board opted to value the coach’s work, whose contract extends until 2030, and the squad considered qualified. Pedrinho BH emphasized that, even with a good performance, Flamengo‘s investment makes the difference in direct clashes like this one.
Rubro-Negro Superiority and Libertadores Support
Pedrinho BH did not hesitate to congratulate Flamengo for advancing:
It’s no secret to anyone that we played an equal game, but Flamengo was superior to Cruzeiro today and won. Congratulations to Flamengo, they continue, and I will continue to root for them to reach the final.
This declaration of support for a rival in international competitions demonstrates sportsmanship and a desire to see Brazilian football well represented.
Total Focus on the Copa do Brasil
With their journey in the Libertadores over, Cruzeiro turns its attention to national competitions. The Copa do Brasil emerges as the top priority. However, the draw was not favorable, placing the ‘celeste’ team against their rival Atlético-MG in the quarterfinals.
Pedrinho BH admitted the difficulties:
We have to attack in the Copa do Brasil, which is another classic match, the draw was not good for us.
The team will have a tight schedule, with a rematch against Flamengo itself in the Campeonato Brasileiro next Saturday (22), at the Mineirão, before starting the battle for the Copa do Brasil.
Flamengo’s Next Steps
While Cruzeiro reorganizes, Flamengo remains strong in pursuit of its fifth Libertadores title. The quarterfinals of the continental tournament are already set for September.
The opponent will emerge from the clash between Tolima (COL) and Independiente del Valle (ECU). The grand final of the 2026 Copa Libertadores is scheduled for November 28, at the Estádio Centenário in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The expectation is that Flamengo, with its star-studded squad, will once again reach the decisive match.
