Palmeiras has secured the future of another youth academy gem by finalizing João França‘s first professional contract, complete with a massive release clause.
Palmeiras continues its aggressive strategy of protecting its youth talent. This week, the club officially signed forward João França to his first professional contract. At 16, the promising prospect has inked a three-year deal, securing his future with a release clause set at 100 million euros (approximately $104 million USD at current exchange rates).
Rise and European interest
A starter for the U-17 squad, the young forward is enjoying a meteoric rise. In June of this year, João França received his first call-up to the Brazil national team at the youth level, cementing his status as one of the top left-footed talents in Brazilian soccer.
His on-field performance has already caught the eye of European giants. Reports indicate that Paris Saint-Germain has already sent scouts to Brazil to closely monitor the player’s development. For Palmeiras, this contract renewal is a necessary move to ward off unwanted interest and protect the market value of their asset.
The Verdão “Talent Factory”
The management at Palmeiras continues to reap the rewards of a well-structured academy. The club is committed to continuing the lineage of success that produced players like Endrick (Real Madrid), Estêvão (Chelsea), and Luis Guilherme (Sporting). Like João França, these players share a profile of high technical ability and elite vision.
A native of Ribeirão Preto, João França joined the club at just ten years old. His early development, which has included a sponsorship deal with Adidas since the U-11 level, shows that the player has long been closely tracked by the coaching staff and the Verdão football department.
Performance and stats
This season, João França has made 10 appearances for the U-17 team, finding the back of the net six times. The youngster, who won the U-15 Campeonato Paulista last year, is now focused on maintaining his momentum to chase further titles.
The club’s consistency is also reflected in the number of national team call-ups. Over the past nine years, Palmeiras has led the ranking of clubs contributing the most players to Brazil’s youth squads. In 2025 alone, there have been 23 call-ups across the U-15, U-17, and U-20 categories, reinforcing the club’s status as the country’s premier talent pipeline.
With the new contract signed, the Palmeiras faithful hope to see the “next big name” carve out a successful path to the first team at Allianz Parque, continuing the club’s tradition of developing stars for the global stage.
