Dominance and excitement on the pitch

The match was intense from the opening whistle. Manchester City dictated the pace and opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Phil Foden, who finished a cross from Doku following his return from injury.

The visitors responded quickly. Two minutes later, Maeda capitalized on a long ball from Ouattara to level the score, catching the Citizens‘ defense by surprise.

Still in the first half, the Norwegian star stepped up to put the hosts back in front. In the 33rd minute, Kovacic delivered a perfect cross for the striker to power a header into the back of the net.

The star’s show and the final minutes

In the second half, the home team’s pressure remained relentless. In the 33rd minute, Erling Haaland found the net once again, extending the lead and giving the fans in the stadium some breathing room.

The team showed resilience and the ability to control a difficult game, demonstrating that we are on the right track for the season’s upcoming challenges.

Deep into stoppage time, Ipswich Town narrowed the gap with a Flemming penalty, earned by Fatawu, but it was too late to find an equalizer. With the defeat, the visitors remain in ninth place with nine points.

Next steps on the schedule

With their duty fulfilled in the domestic tournament, Manchester City now shifts its focus to continental commitments. The Citizens will return to the pitch this Tuesday (21) at 4:00 PM (Brasilia time) to face AEK in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town will have a full week to make adjustments before returning to Premier League action. The team’s next match will be on Friday (23) at 4:00 PM against Nottingham Forest.
