Lucas Paquetá has reached his highest scoring mark for a club in a single season during 2026 with Flamengo, surpassing previous records.
Midfielder Lucas Paquetá is experiencing a career-defining moment. With his goal in the 3-0 victory over Bahia, part of the thirty-first round of the Campeonato Brasileiro (Brazilian Serie A), the player has set a new personal record for goals in a single season for a club.
At twenty-nine years old, the number eleven has now scored thirteen goals in 2026, surpassing the records he set in 2018 with the same Rio de Janeiro club, as well as his numbers from his time in French football. The achievement is even more significant considering there are still several commitments remaining in the competitive year before the sports calendar concludes.
Surpassing Historic Marks
Previously, Paquetá‘s best scoring performance occurred in 2018 when he found the back of the net twelve times for Flamengo before his transfer to European football. Years later, playing for Lyon, his most prolific season resulted in eleven goals.
His current performance reflects the player’s rapid adaptation and prominence within the tactical scheme of the team led by Flamengo’s coaching staff. Even when deployed in various midfield roles, often playing deeper, his efficiency in finishing has become a trademark.
Lucas Paquetá stated:
When I returned to Flamengo, I already knew how the team played, dictating the game and creating many opportunities. That’s why I imagined I could reach this mark, even playing deeper in some matches.
Decisive Moments in the Season
Lucas Paquetá‘s scoring run in 2026 began early in the year with a goal against Botafogo in the Campeonato Carioca (Rio de Janeiro State Championship), a competition Flamengo ultimately won. However, the midfielder highlights another moment as the most special of the current cycle.
The player declared:
It was against Cruzeiro, due to the importance of the match and everything that was at stake. It was a decisive game in the Libertadores, and that goal helped us stay alive in the race for qualification.
With an average of one goal every three games this year, the midfielder has played thirty-nine matches in the current season. The player’s focus now shifts to the final stretch of the Campeonato Brasileiro and upcoming international challenges, aiming to crown the year with new collective achievements for the ‘Mais Querido’ (The Most Beloved).
