The ‘Filhos do Manto’ campaign, launched by Lubrax, calls on fans named after Flamengo icons to celebrate the historic partnership between the brand and the Rio club.
Lubrax, a longtime partner of Flamengo, has just launched the ‘Filhos do Manto’ initiative, a marketing effort designed to connect the brand’s history with fan passion. The project focuses on Rubro-Negro supporters named after major stars who shone for the club during the 1980s and 1990s.
The highlight of the campaign features legends like Zico, Andrade, and Mozer. The trio is taking to social media to invite fans to share their stories. The initiative harkens back to the golden era when Lubrax was a constant fixture on the Rubro-Negro jersey, cementing an emotional bond with Nação.
Connecting icons and fans
The search for these fan namesakes is well underway. According to data from IBGE, there are currently 582 registered Brazilians named Zico. The number is symbolic, even exceeding the anniversary year that the 1981 Libertadores title victory will mark in 2026. Those selected will take part in an exclusive meetup with the former players, which will be broadcast on FlamengoTV via Mengo Cast.
The campaign not only honors the fans, but also reinforces the brand’s legacy on the Manto Sagrado, bringing back memories of a golden era that still resonates in the collective imagination of Rubro-Negro fans.
Shirt sponsorship landscape
Currently, Lubrax occupies the space on the back of Flamengo‘s jersey. The partnership was renewed in July of this year, marking the return of a brand that adorned the uniform between 1984 and 2009. Amid legal uncertainties surrounding the sports betting market and the potential departure of main sponsor Betano, Lubrax emerges as one of the interested parties in taking over the primary front-of-shirt spot.
Flamengo, meanwhile, is monitoring the betting regulatory environment, seeking to ensure compliance with multi-million dollar contracts that fund heavy squad investment. While strategic decisions remain pending, the club continues to strengthen brand activations with established partners.
