Leonardo Jardim led a new training session at the Ninho do Urubu training ground this Thursday (01) to prepare Flamengo during the Brazilian Championship pause.
Flamengo is taking advantage of the break in the national calendar to step up preparations with a focus on the final stretch of the season. After four days of rest granted by the coaching staff, the squad reported back to the Ninho do Urubu training ground and resumed training under the guidance of Leonardo Jardim.
The current break is marked by the so-called Super FIFA Date, an extended format that suspends club tournaments for more than two weeks. As a result, the red-and-black coaching staff gains valuable time to adjust the tactical scheme, fix mistakes, and help recover the physical conditioning of the players who remained in Rio de Janeiro.
Absences and news at Ninho do Urubu
For this week’s activities, the Portuguese coach is still missing players called up by their respective national teams. Important players such as Samuel Lino, Pedro, Anthony Valencia, and Guillermo Varela are absent as they represent their countries during this October international window.
In addition to absences due to national team call-ups, the red-and-black medical department has suffered a significant blow. Midfielder Giorgian de Arrascaeta suffered an injury while on duty with the Uruguay national team, returned to Rio de Janeiro, and will undergo surgery. The M360 Team expects to closely monitor the player’s recovery.
Next steps in the Brazilian Serie A
The full-time training routine is entering its final stretch, as the end of the break period is scheduled for next Tuesday (06). The free time has been essential for the manager to adjust the starting lineup and evaluate options coming from the youth categories.
Flamengo‘s next official match in the Brazilian Serie A takes place on Thursday (08) against Santos. The match, valid for the 29th round, will be played at Vila Belmiro at 7:30 PM (Brasília time), demanding total focus from the squad in their pursuit of the tournament’s objectives.
